Clinical Information Administrator - North House Surgery

NHS AfC: Band 3

Job overview

North House Surgery is a busy GP practice where the Clinical Information Team plays a vital role in supporting the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care. The team is responsible for the accurate collection, recording, and management of clinical data; ensuring the integrity of patient health records and enabling the practice to meet a range of contractual and regulatory requirements. These include QOF (Quality and Outcomes Framework), Enhanced Services, and national screening and immunisation programmes.

Working closely with clinical, managerial, and administrative colleagues, the team ensures that: All clinical correspondence is processed promptly and coded in accordance with NHS data standards and information governance policies. Electronic patient records for newly registered patients are maintained accurately and kept up to date. Patients are contacted in a timely and appropriate manner for routine care, including immunisations, regular health reviews, and any necessary monitoring related to long-term conditions and medication safety.

In addition to maintaining accurate records, the team provides essential reporting and data analysis to support continuous improvement, audit activity, and population health management across the practice.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will support both clinical and administrative teams by ensuring the accurate and timely input, management, and reporting of clinical data. This role is essential in maintaining the quality of patient records, supporting the practice’s compliance with national and local performance targets, and enhancing patient care through the effective use of information.

The role involves regular communication with a range of internal and external professionals, including GPs, clinical staff, administrative colleagues, pharmacies, and partner organisations. Working under the guidance of the Clinical Information Manager, the post holder must be highly organised, adaptable, and able to manage multiple priorities in a busy and detail-focused environment.

A flexible and proactive attitude is essential, as is a strong commitment to teamwork, high standards of patient care, and maintaining confidentiality at all times.
