Salaried GP - North House Surgery

NHS Medical & Dental: Salaried GP

Job overview

We are seeking a dedicated Salaried GP for 8 sessions per week to join our team at North House Surgery, working under the umbrella of Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust. This role is based at our Ripon site and has been created to meet growing demand for General Practice services.

The successful candidate will manage a personal caseload and deliver high-quality, patient-centred care across a broad spectrum of health needs in a primary care setting. This includes providing clinical services to both registered and temporary patients, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, and compassionate care.

The service is currently delivered by 8 substantive salaried GPs and the Clinical Lead.  Applicants who would be interested in 4 sessions a week are also encouraged to apply.

Main duties of the job

·         Work in accordance with the agreed practice timetable, undertaking a range of clinical duties including face-to-face consultations, telephone consultations, home visits, repeat prescription authorisation, and administrative tasks.

·         Exercise professional, autonomous clinical judgment in managing presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred by other healthcare professionals.

·         Assess patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed presentations, formulating appropriate management plans.

·         Conduct health screening and risk assessments for early detection of disease.

·         Develop patient-centred care plans aligned with current disease management protocols.

·         Provide counselling, advice, and health promotion to support lifestyle changes and wellbeing.

·         Admit or discharge patients from the GP caseload and refer to other care providers where clinically appropriate.

·         Maintain clear, timely, and comprehensive consultation records in line with practice standards.

·         Collect and submit clinical data to support audit and quality improvement initiatives.

·         Issue computer-generated prescriptions for acute and repeat medications, avoiding handwritten prescriptions where possible.

Undertake the full range of duties expected of a GP working within a modern, patient-centred primary care setting.
