Receptionist - North House Surgery

NHS AfC: Band 3

Job overview

North House Surgery is a busy GP practice, and the reception team is central to its daily operations. The team provides frontline support for patients and underpins the work of clinical and management staff by ensuring effective communication, coordination, and data accuracy.

As a key administrative support unit within the practice, the reception team contributes to delivering a safe, responsive, and compassionate service to all patients. They play a vital role in ensuring healthcare needs are met efficiently and effectively while upholding the high standards of care and confidentiality expected within the NHS.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will play a vital role as the first point of contact for patients, providing a professional, courteous and efficient reception and administrative service. The role supports the smooth running of the practice by facilitating access to clinical services and ensuring accurate patient records and appointment scheduling through the use of SystmOne.

This role requires effective communication with patients, as well as internal and external professionals, including GPs, clinical staff and partner organisations. Working under the guidance of the Reception Supervisor, the post holder must be adaptable, well-organised, and capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

A flexible and proactive approach is essential, along with a strong commitment to teamwork and high standards of patient care and confidentiality.
