YORK AND SCARBOROUGH TEACHING HOSPITAL NHS FOUNDATION TRUST

We have supported a number of our Trust Grades to successfully secure places on the formal training programme and into career grade positions.

Whilst the posts available do not form part of the formal training programme, we endeavour to offer post holders the same training and educational opportunities as colleagues in training, including paid study leave. You will be provided with clinical and educational supervision, to enable your personal and portfolio development. There is an active Postgraduate Medical Education Centre on both sites, as part of a dynamic Education and Training directorate, which is developing multi-professional training.

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

The principle duty of this post is to provide a comprehensive clinical service to patients from and around your base hospital.

 

1.             To, at all times, comply with the GMC requirements of Duties of a Doctor

 

2.             To ensure that patient confidentiality is maintained at all times.

 

3.             To undertake duties as defined within the job description in so far as practicable and in agreement with your clinical director.

 

4.             To be responsible and managerially accountable for the reasonable and effective use of any Trust resources that you use and influence, and professionally accountable to the Medical Director.

 

5.             On commencement to ensure personal attendance at the Trust’s Corporate Induction.

 

6.             To participate in the Trust’s statutory and mandatory training programme

 

7.             To be responsible for the clinical management of in and out patients under your care.

 

8.             To comply with Trust policies and procedures where appropriate.

 

9.             To ensure that all intellectual property rights of the Trust are observed.

 

10.          Detailed working knowledge of safeguarding agenda, and its relevant legislation, policy and guidance is required.

Eligibility

  • Full registration with the GMC
  • Evidence of achievement of Foundation competences from a UKFPO affiliated Foundation Programme or equivalent by time of appointment in line with GMC standards/ Good Medical Practice including: • Detailed working knowledge of safeguarding agenda, and its relevant legislation, policy and guidance. • Eligibility to work in the UK • Not previously relinquished, released or removed from a training programme in this specialty except under exceptional circumstances • Evidence of achievement of CT/ST1 & 2 competences by time of appointment demonstrated by: Either • Basic Level Training Certificate (BLTC) Or • Written statement from College Tutor that BLTC will be issued by the time of expected commencement of post, including evidence of satisfactory Annual Review of Career Progression for ST1/CT1. Or • Evidence of achieving ST1 and ST2 anaesthesia and ICM competences supported by evidence from work-based assessments of clinical performance (DOPS. Mini-CEX, CBD) and appraisal/educational supervisors letter or equivalent

Qualifications and experience

  • Medical qualification
  • Examination or equivalent by date of application.
  • Satisfactory completion of ST1-2 post or equivalent.
  • 24 months previous experience in an Anaesthetics department.
  • ALS training or equivalent.
  • Ability to provide complete details of employment history with no unexplained career gaps.
  • Evidence that career progression is consistent with personal circumstances
  • Evidence that present achievement and performance is commensurate with totality of period of training.
  • At least 24 months’ total experience in anaesthesia/ intensive care medicine (ICM) (excluding Foundation modules) by time of appointment, including at least 18 months of anaesthesia training and 3 months of ICM training.
