Job overview

We are looking for an experienced and forward-thinking AHP Team Manager to join and lead our York AHP Neurology Service – a specialist team delivering high-quality care to patients with neurological conditions across York and the surrounding area.

This is a unique leadership role as the service has recently moved into the Cancer, Specialist and Clinical Support Services (CSCS) Care Group. This creates a fantastic opportunity to play an integral part in shaping how AHPs are represented and involved in service development and decision-making across the care group.

The role combines service leadership with clinical practice (80:20 split), allowing you to remain hands-on with a neurological caseload while driving service improvement and development. You’ll lead a dedicated and experienced team of AHPs, working collaboratively with operational managers and clinical leads to ensure high standards of patient care, workforce development, and innovation in service delivery.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide professional and operational leadership to the AHP Neurology team, including staff management, recruitment, induction, appraisal, locality training and service development
  • Support the ongoing development of AHP services within the CSCS Care Group
  • Hold a small specialist neurological caseload (approx. one day per week)
  • Champion high standards of clinical care, service innovation, and staff development
  • Contribute to strategic discussions and planning forums within the care group
  • Support will be available from senior managers, as well as clinical advice from advanced clinical specialists in this area and professional leads.
  • A relevant degree or equivalent with current HCPC registration is essential. The successful candidate will have a broad range of post graduate experience, preferably with a strong background in neurological rehabilitation and will have experience of leading teams or services.
  • Ability to support others in skills development and complex discharge management is essential and understanding of complex care management within the NHS environment is also beneficial.
