If the answer to these questions is yes, would you like to join our West Community Nursing Team as a Healthcare Support Worker?
There are opportunities to grow your knowledge and skills and we encourage staff to progress and develop. We provide a comprehensive learning package and an expectation that you will fulfil the competency framework within a fixed period of time. We are passionate about providing the very best support for our staff wishing to develop a career in the health sector. Opportunities are available for further education to gain additional qualifications to enable career progression if desired.
We have a variety of shift patterns over a 24-hour period. Our Band 2 Healthcare Support Workers predominately work 08:30am – 16:30pm, generally Monday- Friday, although this is flexible to meet the needs of the service.
It is essential that you have access to a vehicle and the ability to transport yourself and equipment across the locality during the course of a normal working day.
You must be able to commit to our full time, 4 week HCSW Academy

We provide a 4 week full time induction programme covering all you need to know to contribute to patient care on our wards.
As a Band 2 Healthcare Support worker, you will work with our supportive multi-disciplinary team who are dedicated to maintaining high standards and going the extra mile for our patients.
- As a Band 2 Healthcare Support Worker, you would be expected to undertake phlebotomy, record vital signs and undertake simple wound care.
Our Community based team provides nursing care for patients in their own homes. The main duties for this role include:
- Wound care
- Catheter and Bowel care
- Palliative and end of life care
- Administration of medication
Training and support are provided and once competent you would visit patients independently. Support is always available from the registered nurse.
