The successful candidate will work as part of a dynamic and agile Digital Transformation and Innovation team. They will be accountable for delivering and implementing digital products and services as part of the Digital Transformation Programme which is in support of University of Northamptonshire’s Digital Strategy
The post holder will be working across both Kettering & Northampton General Hospitals. We are a digital team that has a hybrid approach, therefore there is an expectation for you to work both onsite at either site and remotely. Experience of working with agile methodologies will be an advantage.
Main duties of the job
- Develop, lead and manage the delivery of projects associated with the Group Digital Strategy, with varying levels of size and complexity ensuring that they do not have an adverse impact on patient care and quality
- Promote and practice agile methodologies in delivery of digital projects.
- Report regularly on project performance, risk management and financial control.
- As budget holders for projects you will carry out day to budget management duties, including administering and monitoring the project budget.
- Develop business justifications, business cases and project artefacts in collaboration with Business Unit operational teams, working to principles of Minimum Viable Bureaucracy.
- To ensure that services are continually reviewed and improve the quality, effectiveness and safety of care, actively seeking out and learning the lessons from complaints, compliments, investigations and other information and intelligence

We have recently formed the University Hospitals of Northamptonshire NHS Group, bringing together the constituent organisations of Kettering General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust. Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- Use tools and techniques of the internet era to understand user needs and put into place solutions that meet expectations.
- As the Group moves to an electronic patient record (EPR), proactively understand how technical architecture and data processes need to adapt to support the increasing use of digital records and support the Digital Innovation Enterprise Architect to lead the implementation of this alongside the rest of the management team.
- Work with service leads, health and social care managers and IT project managers to implement change management activities: identify, plan and deliver qualitative, time saving or cash releasing benefits through the application of information systems.
- Challenge existing practices, ensuring that progressive solutions, which consider models of best practice, are incorporated into service plans.
- Support a culture of innovation, exploring emerging technology and its application to the UHN Group ambitions.
- Support the development and implementation of the Group Digital Strategy, in line with Group, Trust and National priorities and initiatives, and leading digital techniques
- Support the promotion and the adoption of agile methodologies across project teams and into the wider Group
- Working with service managers to identify benefits enabled by each IT project, establish ownership and manage the delivery of agreed benefits.
- Match benefits requirements to system functionality to realise previously identified benefits
- Working with clinicians identify individual service area and corporate information requirements and work with IT project teams to facilitate the delivery of those requirements.
Working with University Hospitals of Northamptonshire and other governance leads, support and agree information governance and IT security policies and procedures and ensure Service Leads and their staff adhere to those policies and procedures.

Education
Essential criteria
- Educated to Degree level education or equivalent level or equivalent experience delivering Digital services in a complex environment
Desirable criteria
- Project Management Qualification
- Quality improvement methodology qualification e.g. QSIR
Experience
Essential criteria
- Proven experience of effectively managing complex projects from brief through to delivery, including risk management and change control
- Proven experience of setting project objectives, managing priorities and dependencies within project, mitigating risks and reporting status updates to teams and stakeholders
- Track record in successfully delivering service improvement initiatives demonstrated by quantifiable metrics
- Experience of working with a wide range of stakeholders using different approaches relevant to the audience
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working within the NHS
Skills
Essential criteria
- Ability to apply appropriate project management methodologies according to the risk, scope and scale of a project
- Ability to self-motivate and work on own initiative and organise own workload
- Good verbal communication skills; ability to build rapport with a wide range of stakeholders at all levels and to develop wider networks

- Good written communication skills; ability to convey highly complex information in a way that is understood by a range of target audiences
- Ability to respond to shifting priorities, demands and timescales through analytical and problem solving capabilities in a high-pressure environment where there are competing demands.
- Ability to work with service users to understand their needs and translate this in order to inform product design, planning and implementation
