An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and flexible radiographer to join the Radiology team at Kettering General Hospital.
We can offer you a varied and interesting daily workload working in A/E, general rooms, theatre, fluoroscopy and at our 3 satellite departments.
This is an exciting time to join our team as we expand and improve our service.

Main duties of the job

  • To work a rotation through the Radiology rooms, conducting examinations using a range of equipment both as an autonomous practitioner and as part of a multi-professional team
  • To support other Radiographers, admin & clerical staff, radiology assistants and students whilst working in the Radiology departments.
  • To carry out the full range of imaging /duties, to a consistently high standard.

To participate in the rosters to deliver a 24/7 service in accordance with departmental standard operating procedures.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

1. To partake in the general rotation around the imaging rooms, within the main and peripheral departments as a member of a team. To organise and prioritise the work of a particular room as directed by the team leader for that section of the department. 

2. Afford protection to patients and staff in accordance with radiation local rules.

3. Maintain high standards of radiographic quality and patient care and actively participate in monitoring of personal standards.

4. Report any faults of unsafe equipment, accidents, or incidents, to your team leader.

5. To supervise student radiographers and write written assessments of their progress.

6. To participate in the Directorates appraisal scheme.

7. To use the departmental radiology information computer system to register patients.

8. The Directorate expects individuals to maintain their competencies and to able to 
demonstrate continuous personal development.

9. To ensure protocols and procedures are maintained and updated in conjunction with 
radiologists to ensure the highest standards of patient care.

10. To participate and work in the rotas to provide 24/7 cover and a 7 day service, this 
will include early, late and overnight shifts, plus shifts at the weekend.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • BSc Radiography or equivalent
  • Registered with HCPC
  • Evidence of CPD

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience in all aspects of general radiography
Desirable criteria
  • Experience working in/training in an NHS hospital
  • Dealing with Ill/Injured/anxious patients

Skills and knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Understand the IR(ME)R 2017 and how to implement them
Desirable criteria
  • Able to prioritise workload
  • Good eye for detail/accuracy
  • Able to work alone and as part of a team

Flexible appraoch to work

Essential criteria
  • Flexibility to cover shifts across 7days/24 hours
Desirable criteria
  • Adaptable to rota amendments due to staffing requirements.
