Job overview
Planned Care Unit has a vacancy for a part time Ward Clerk to work a Saturday. Hours will be between 08.00 and16.00.
You will need to be a team player, have the ability to work as part of a team and on your own initiative, a flexible approach to tasks in a changing environment, excellent communication, organisational, interpersonal skills, stay focused and calm in difficult situation and competent in using IT systems.
Main duties of the job
- To meet and greet patients.
- To maintain and update patient records/ward notes and other ward records using computer based in-house systems.
- To use effective communication and interpersonal skills when dealing with patients on a daily basis in a busy environment either via the telephone or face to face.
- To photocopy/scan documents as required.
- To ensure patient confidentiality at all times in line with the Trust policy.
- To assist in the induction and development of others by demonstrating own duties.

Meet and greet patients that attend the unit in a friendly and professional manner.
Deal with telephone calls in a timely manner.
Updating Careflow and e.diary with attendances and discharging of patients.
updating Mediviewer and Careflow - preparing notes for digital filing
Photocopy documentation
Ensure patient confidentiality to following with GDPR
Liaise with the clinical and nursing staff to complete daily ad hoc duties.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- NVQ level 2 qualification in administration or equivalent hospital experience
- Good standard of Education to include Maths and English
Knowledge/Experience
Essential criteria
- Knowledge of Data entry
- Knowledge of Admin procedures
- Knowledge of GDPR
- Previous experience of working in a hospital environment
Skills
Essential criteria
- Knowledge of use of office equipment e.mail, photocopy, printing
- Experience of self management organising own time and daily tasks
- Experience of dealing with difficult situations .
