Educations, Training and Qualifications

Essential criteria

GMC registered/licensed Medical Practitioner
Medical Degree – MBBS or equivalent
Experience appropriate to grade, including examination, history taking and infection control and understanding own limitation
Paediatric and Neonatal Paediatric experience
Understand current issues in Paediatrics and practice in the UK
Clinical skills appropriate to the grade
Able to communicate (speak and write) to the appropriate standard necessary to fulfil the job requirements

Desirable criteria

MRCPCH or equivalent
Experience of Clinical Audit

If you need to have a Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check, as a requirement of the role, you will be required to repay the cost of obtaining a DBS check (£49.50) and this amount will be reclaimed from your first salary. From 1st February 2019 all new starters to the Trust are required to join the DBS update service as per Trust DBS Re-checking Policy which has an annual cost of £16. New employees who do not join the update service will be required to pay £49.50 for a new DBS check in 3 years time.

Please note that news starters with KGH are subject to a six month probationary period.

As a Senior Assessor, you have the opportunity to focus on delivering direct care. Furthermore, if you have the relevant experience and skills, you can take on an additional responsibility. We limit this to one responsibility to allow for focused time on that topic, rather than having your time stretched too thinly. When taking on an additional responsibility, your case volume is reduced, making time available for this focused time.

For Senior Assessors, additional responsibility options include supporting more complex cases, ensuring quality assurance, providing training, facilitating family engagement, and contributing to pathway development.
