Job overview

Fixed-term: 6-Months

The Digestive Disease Unit is recruiting a full time  37.5  hours per week Ward Clerk for their busy, fast-paced Gastroenterology unit.

Hours will be between 08.00-16.00 Monday to Friday, excluding bank holiday.

You will need to be a team player,  but have the confidence to work on your own initiative, have a flexible approach to tasks in a busy changing environment, demonstrate competence in using IT systems,  have excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, as you will be the front line for the patient and relatives.  

Main duties of the job

To maintain the patient records/notes using  our Careflow system. 

Ensure patients demographics are correct and up to date.  

Complete patient ward notes and update administration section to support patient information throughout the trust.   

To use effective communication skills to answer the telephone according to the agreed standard and give the appropriate information as required. 

To photocopy/scan documents as required 

To ensure patient confidentiality at all times in line with the Trust policy. 

To assist in the induction and development of others by demonstrating own duties.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • NVQ level 2 qualification in administration or equivalent hospital experience
  • Good standard of Education to include Maths and English

Knowledge/Experience

  • Knowledge of data entry and proficient keyboard skills
  • Knowledge of admin procedures
  • Knowledge of Confidentiality
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience of working in a hospital environment
