 SPECIALIST PODIATRIST

 BAND 6:  Full time ( 37.5 hours)  and part time ( 30 hours)  - Countywide Position 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, well organised and motivated podiatrist with an interest in diabetes and the high-risk foot to join our team.  A drive to improve your skills and expand your expertise is essential. The successful post holder will experience an exciting and challenging caseload providing specialist patient centred care.

The Diabetic and High-risk foot service in Northamptonshire has a range of clinical specialist teams covering diabetes, prescribed footwear, tissue viability, paediatrics, nail surgery. We host clinical placements for undergraduate podiatrists and apprenticeships. We have a reputation for growing our own talent.

You will work alongside highly skilled dedicated team of podiatrists and encouraged in your professional development. We are committed to CPD and promoting evidence-based practice and a high standard of care throughout the service. We offer support through regular 1:1 meetings, clinical supervision, in-house CPD, and ongoing training to support the development of our staff.

Main duties of the job

Develop and deliver individual treatment plans using assessment, reasoning and clinical decision-making using your specialist knowledge and evidence-based practice and guidelines.

Assess patient progress and alter treatment plans using evidence-based practice and recognise when additional support and advice is required.

Ability to identify patients of concern who require escalation who present with complex conditions where advanced expertise/knowledge and skills are required. .

To be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of your own work, including the management of patients/service users in your care

To undertake self-directed/lone working in a variety of locations, including patients' homes.

Plan and organise efficiently and effectively own clinical caseload.

Maintain accurate and contemporaneous patient record.

New graduates are welcomed to apply as well as experienced podiatrists wishing to provide specialist and complex podiatry care for a range of acute and chronic foot pathologies within community settings.

The post holder will be required to work in a range of community clinics, the ability to travel across county is essential.

Professional Qualification and Clinical Experience

Essential criteria
  • HCPC Regisiered Podiatrist
  • BSc Hons Degree or equivalent / Diploma in Podiatric Medicine
  • Post graduate NHS experience
  • Experience of minor surgery
  • Evidence of broad range of clinical experience
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of Previous NHS experience
  • Diabetic Foot Module
  • Evidence of current CPD engagement
  • Evidence of post graduate study
  • Evidence of team/MDT working
