Consultant Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon

Consultant

Job overview

Are you ready to take your OMFS career to the next level?

We’re looking for a talented and motivated Consultant in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery with a specialist interest in Head & Neck Cancer Surgery to join our progressive team at University Hospitals of Northamptonshire (UHN).

What we need:
A driven clinical leader who’s passionate about delivering excellence in cancer care, thrives in a multidisciplinary environment, and brings skill, compassion and innovation to every patient interaction.

What we offer:
A supportive, close-knit consultant team, a service in growth with exciting investment, and academic opportunities through our partnership with the University of Leicester College of Life Sciences — including teaching, honorary titles, and research.
You’ll benefit from strong mentorship, protected development time, and a culture that genuinely values wellbeing, teamwork and work–life balance.

Join us and shape the future of Head & Neck Cancer surgery across Northamptonshire.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will provide expert clinical care within our growing Head & Neck Cancer service, contributing to the diagnosis, treatment, and reconstruction of oncology patients.
The role also includes participation in the 1:5 OMFS consultant on-call rota for emergency cover and active engagement in departmental leadership, service development, and education.

Your week will include a balance of theatre sessions, outpatient clinics, MDT participation, and supporting professional activities such as research, audit, and teaching. You’ll have the autonomy to tailor your job plan (10–12 PAs) to your interests, including opportunities in education, innovation, and leadership.

You will:

  • Deliver safe, high-quality care to patients referred under 2WW and oncology pathways

  • Contribute to multidisciplinary Head & Neck, Skin, and Deformity MDTs

  • Participate in general OMFS emergency on-call cover (1:5)

  • Take part in departmental meetings and support service improvement and governance

  • Teach and supervise undergraduate and postgraduate trainees, fostering clinical excellence

  • Engage in continuing professional development, with study leave time and funding available

This is an excellent opportunity for either an experienced consultant or a newly qualified colleague seeking mentorship and growth within a well-respected, collaborative team.
