Specialist dietitian
Band 6
Job overview
There are excellent opportunities for further training in Eating Disorders and robust systems of support and supervision within the Trust. There are great opportunities for joint working and continuing professional development. NEDS is a very well-established service, which has evolved over the past 30 years and is a pioneer of community-based approaches to treatment and support. New developments include the development of intensive home support and day programme for people with severe eating disorders and early intervention approaches.
We have strong working links with CMHTs, IAPT Talking Therapies, Personality Disorder Service, Complex PTSD service and the Autistic Spectrum Disorder/ADHD service within the Trust and also with the Primary and Acute care sector. We are building stronger links with third sector and community organisations and co-production with service users and carers is highly valued and central to our delivery.
We offer evidence-based treatment for Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder and OSFED. A comprehensive range of services is provided, from outpatient individual and group treatment packages for relatively mild-moderate cases through to intervention and case management of people with severe Anorexia Nervosa. Clinicians in NEDS work with individuals locally in the community and also co-ordinate referrals to Out of Area inpatient admissions to Specialist Eating Disorder Units
Main duties of the job
You will be accountable to the Senior Specialist Eating Disorder Dietitian and Consultant Clinical Psychologist, and you will be based at Newland House, Northampton and the Oakwood Centre, St. Mary’s Hospital Kettering. There will be some flexibility within the role to work remotely based on the needs of the clients and the service. You will see adult clients referred to the Northamptonshire Eating Disorder service who present with a range of Eating Disorder diagnoses including Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, OSFED and Binge Eating Disorder. You will also provide expert advice and consultation to other services within NHFT for clients presenting with low weight, nutritional risks and disordered eating but whose symptoms may not meet the diagnostic criteria for an Eating Disorder.
Working for our organisation
About us
The Northamptonshire Eating Disorders Service is a county wide service with bases in Northampton (Campbell /Newland House) and Kettering (The Oakwood Centre). The main base for the service is in Northampton, but it is essential that the post holder can drive as the job involves travelling across the county. The EDS normal working hours are Monday to Friday 9-5. However, this post may demand flexible working practices reflecting the needs of clients at any given time.
Northamptonshire Healthcare Foundation NHS Trust rated "Outstanding" and is a great place to work. Northamptonshire is a pleasant area with a mix of rural and urban locations and is within easy distance of other key locations in the Midlands with excellent rail and road links.
NHFT is an integrated primary care and mental health Trust, providing physical, mental health and specialty services in both hospital settings and out in the community. Because we put the person at the centre of all we do, we focus on delivering care that is as easy to access as possible. This means many of our services can be provided at home, work or in schools. We also provide health services to various prisons and detention centres in Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire.
NHFT promotes a culture of learning to improve the care and safety of our patients and staff, which focuses on people who enable our Trust to be ‘outstanding’ by supporting opportunity, innovation, development and growth.
