Two posts in Community CAMHS South Team (Based at Hopewood in Nottingham and covering City & South of the County). 

Trainee Systemic Family Practitioner, CAMHS (training posts) - Fixed Term 1 year

We are excited to offer 3 training posts;  across two of our Community CAMHS services.

These are full time training posts which will involve undertaking a postgraduate diploma level training hosted by the University of Northampton whilst being based within one of our CAMHS clinical teams.

Candidates will need to be ready to start academic training in February 2026 at the University of Northampton (UoN). Interviews will be held jointly with the UoN and successful candidates will be required to complete the application form for a place on the Postgraduate Diploma Systemic Family Practice. An additional learning agreement, supplementary to the Terms and Conditions of Employment, will be issued to clarify the responsibilities and obligations linked to the period of learning during employment in this role.

The post-holder will work as a trainee as part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering, high-quality; outcome focused evidence-based interventions for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties including anxiety, low mood and behavioural difficulties.

The post-holder will work with children, young people and their families from diverse cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when required.

The post holder will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering, under supervision, high quality,  outcome-informed/ focused, evidence-based interventions.

The post-holder will also oversee elements of participation. This includes engaging all children, young people and families in various ways to gain feedback, participate in shaping services and running appropriate participation groups within the services.

The post holder will be required to be creative, flexible, adaptable, professional and motivated in all aspects of their role, both in clinical delivery and within the development of the service provision. 

Where appropriate to provide support for the work of other members of the multidisciplinary team and signpost children, young people and families to appropriate support/services. 

These posts are fixed term for 12 months, with the intention that on completion applicants will be able to apply for any qualified CWP posts available within CAMHS once the course is complete.

A full UK driving licence and vehicle for business use is required for this post; however reasonable adjustments will be made for disabled individuals in line with the Equality Act 2010.

Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment.
You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. An annual fee of £16 per year applies.

Qualifications

  • Relevant professional qualification e.g. social work, nursing or other relevant professional training in a mental health or social care related discipline.
  • A minimum of 2 years of appropriate experience for those with a core qualification.

Training

  • Able to attend a two day per week course plus necessary clinical work to complete the training.
  • Able to complete academic components of the course.

Experience

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience of working with children, young people, and families with a range of emotional/mental health, behavioural and specific needs (additional health, developmental, offending or substance misuse needs).
  • Experience of working with people who have difficulty in engaging with services and have complex mental health needs.
  • Experience of assessing, formulating, planning, care coordinating, caseload management and supporting children and young people with mental health problems in a community setting.
  • Experience of working as part and within a multi-agency environment.
  • Able to develop good therapeutic relationships with clients.
  • Ability to access any local resources and to use networking where possible.

  • Previous experience of working within a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service.
  • Experience of mentoring and clinical supervision of others.

Knowledge
