An opportunity has arisen for a podiatric surgeon to join the podiatric surgery team in Nottinghamshire as a Podiatric Specialist Registrar AFC band 8B working 30 hours per week. The Podiatric Surgery team provides highly specialist assessment, diagnosis, treatment and advice regarding podiatric surgery to the population of Nottinghamshire and the surrounding area. The post will be based at Park House Health and Social Care Centre, Carlton. The Centre is equipped with twin theatres, dedicated outpatient facilities and access to onsite ultrasound and fluoroscopy.
You will be part of a motivated team providing a high standard of clinical care and advice in the field of podiatric surgery. You will work alongside the Clinical Lead Consultant Podiatric Surgeon and will continue to develop skills, knowledge and expertise in all aspects of podiatric surgery supported by a specialist team. The successful candidate will have extensive experience of podiatry and a commitment to evidence-based practice.
Main duties of the job
This role requires the delivery of day case podiatric surgery at Park House Health and Social Care Centre. The post holder will be annotated in podiatric surgery by the HCPC and will demonstrate a clear commitment to evidence-based practice.
We would love to hear from you if you have completed your fellowship in podiatric surgery / Master of Podiatric Surgery qualification and are ready to develop your practice of podiatric surgery in a supervised environment. The post will offer development through to the Certificate of Completion of Podiatric Specialist Training. You will evaluate and develop treatment plans, working collaboratively with our team, community podiatry, GPs and hospital specialists, providing compassionate, realistic and timely support to a diverse patient group and their families. Able to mentor and train junior team members and surgical trainees.
Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to be adaptable, reliable, resourceful and approachable.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
We are seeking a compassionate, dynamic, innovative Consultant Podiatric Surgeon to join us and ensure our patients continue to receive exceptional care and we continue to be recognised as a great place to work.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery of day case podiatric surgery services at Park House Health and Social Care Centre and related satellite clinics.
This position requires you to work independently, but also be a team player, working closely with the Clinical Lead Consultant Podiatric Surgeon and our team of Advanced and Specialists Podiatrists
You will be afforded an informal discussion with a Manager of the service which provides opportunity for you to share your journey to NottsHC and understand how your values align with ours and the factors that motivate you to reinforce a supportive working relationship.
As you settle in you will receive regular, meaningful clinical and managerial supervisions and an appraisal within 4 months of commencing in your role to establish how we can support you to be the best version of yourself, whilst achieving your developmental needs and aspirations.

Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment.

Essential criteria
- • Diploma in Podiatric Medicine or BSc. Podiatric Medicine.
- • Surgical Fellowship of the College of Podiatry with Access and Supply certificate in POMs.
- • IRMER – Ionising radiation, certificate.
- • Certificate in Local Anaesthesia.
- • Independent prescribing
Desirable criteria
- • IRMER Operator / Practitioner certificates
Experience
Essential criteria
- • Experience of working in other Podiatric Surgery units and services
- • Advanced Local Anaesthesia techniques
- • Experience of working with electronic clinical records systems
Desirable criteria
- • Experience of writing for publication.
- • Formal research expertise.
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- • Theoretical knowledge of a range of podiatric surgery procedures, including foot surgery, keyhole surgery, bone grafts, wound management.
- • Practical knowledge of common podiatric surgery procedures.
- • Knowledge and awareness of the evolving NHS health care agenda and its implications for Podiatric Surgery.
- • Evidence of a working knowledge of corporate and clinical governance issues.
Skills

- • Ability to prioritise a complex workload. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- • Highly developed clinical skills (surgery) where agreement and co-operation is required and barriers to understanding exist.
