Job overview

This exciting post is to work across the Nottinghamshire and Nottingham City for the Diagnostic Services who provide assessment, potential diagnosis, treatment and signposting to individuals age under the age of 65 and over the age of 65.

We are looking to recruit either a band 7 Non medical prescriber or a band 6 clinician to cover a years maternity leave within the service.  

Main duties of the job

  • To work as part of the multi disciplinary team to screen and triage appropriate referrals
  • To complete a through and specialist  assessment of clinical presentation and symptoms
  • To share information amongst the multi disciplinary team and create appropriate and person centered care plans
  • To refer for appropriate diagnostic procedures eg scans, neuropsychology, occupational therapy
  • To prescribe treatments (if NMP)
  • To follow up on efficacy of medications 
  • To complete accurate records

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To screen referrals for appropriateness

To undertake initial assessments and create a treatment plan

To liaise with the MDT to explore symptoms and causes

To refer for additional assessments and diagnostic tests

To initiate treatment and complete follow up reviews

To signpost for post diagnostic support

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Must hold RNMH qualification
  • Education to masters degree level or equivalent experience
Desirable criteria
  • Non-medical prescribing qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Substantial experience of MDT working.
  • CPD relevant to current post.
  • Current knowledge and understanding of older peoples mental health needs and ability to demonstrate clinical competence
  • Substantial and considerable experience in assessing people with cognitive impairment
  • Can evidence knowledge of Dementia including pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments
Desirable criteria
  • Community Mental Health experience
  • Experience of assessing and prescribing treatments for mental health problems.
  • Facilitated research and audits that contribute to governance, service development and service planning.

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of leadership skills and development project work.
  • Effective teaching and presentation skills
  • Highly specialised range of interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Effective time management and organisational skills.
  • Caseload management
  • Basic IT skills
  • Ability to organise and prioritise work load.
Desirable criteria
  • Clinical supervision skills

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of Trust non-medical policy and local procedure.

Contractual Requirements

Essential criteria
  • Full time Monday to Friday 37.5 hours
  • A full UK driving licence and vehicle for business use is required for this post; however reasonable adjustments will be made for disabled individuals in line with the Equality Act 2010.

Training

Essential criteria
  • Education to masters degree level or equivalent experience
  • Teaching and assessing training.
Desirable criteria
  • Clinical supervision course
