Main duties of the job
We have two exciting secondment posts as Respiratory Nurse Specialist for a period of 4 months dependant on starting date. The applicant must have their managers authorisation to apply and have the ability to start as soon as possible / immediately.
The successful applicant will:
Be pro-active in delivering anticipatory and responsive care, promoting independence, health lifestyle, reduction in health inequalities to improve the overall quality of life in the local population.
Offer a comprehensive nursing / therapy service to the resident population of Mid Notts providing a multi-disciplinary and multi-agency approach to maximise patient function, well-being and self-care planning.

We have two full time Band 7 Respiratory Specialist Nurses secondment posts available to work within our existing teams to work on an specific project involving our acute secondary care trust, voluntary sector and primary care to identify patients who have not yet been diagnosed with a respiratory condition to be assessed, discussed and diagnosed with a respiratory diagnosis. The posts are for a period of 4 months (dependant on commencement date). You must have your managers authorisation to apply and have the ability to start as soon as possible / immediately.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for 2 full time Respiratory Nurse Specialist to join our excellent Community Cardio Respiratory Team in Mid Notts, helping to support caseload management of patients with Chronic Respiratory Conditions.
The team are based at Ashfield Health Village and Newark Health Centre and will cover the Mansfield and Newark localities on a specific project involving the Integrated Neighbourhood Team working towards identifying patients not yet diagnosed with a respiratory condition to ensure they receive care and treatment for their long term lung conditions. The Cardiorespiratory team is made up of specialist Nurse and AHPs within the Community Respiratory Service, Community Home Oxygen Service, Pulmonary Rehabilitation and Heart Failure Services.
You will be expected to identify, manage and discuss a cohort of patients with undiagnosed and diagnosed long term lung conditions, providing care plans as appropriate, working closely with members of the Cardio Respiratory Team and the wider MDT- including our acute colleagues, GPs, voluntary sector and other health professionals in order to maximise patients quality of life and encouraging self management. This care takes place within community clinic settings and patients own homes /usual place of residence. a Non medical prescribing qualification (V300) is essential for the role.
We are looking for a passionate, dynamic and flexible individual who are able to adapt to the changing demands and workload.
The service is a 5 day service operating from 8.00-5.00pm, due to the nature of this role, it is essential that you are able to travel independently across the county.
A full UK driving license and vehicle for business use is required for this post; however reasonable adjustments will be made for disabled individuals in line with the Equality Act 2010.
Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment.
You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. An annual fee of £16 per year applies.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse (General) plus significant further specialist knowledge/post registration experience to diploma level or equivalent underpinned by theory
- Experience of working with Respiratory patients eg COPD, ILD and Bronchiectasis
- Independent nurse prescriber. (V300)
Desirable criteria
- Relevant health related honours degree
- A recognised Respiratory qualification e.g. COPD at minimum of diploma level.
- Evidence of continued professional development
- Competence in Spirometry

- Significant experience and extensive knowledge in management of complex Respiratory patients.
- Understanding of current national / local initiatives and guidelines, including long term conditions, NICE.
- Management of Respiratory Patients working in collaboration / partnership across primary.
- Understanding of current national / local understanding of current research and evidence initiatives and guidelines including evidence based practice, long term conditions, NICE
- Competent in holistic assessment including physical examination, diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Developing / implementing / evaluation Respiratory services to promote high quality health outcomes case management skills.
- Evidence of teaching in clinical practice.
- Management skills.
