On successful completion of the course and registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) you could apply for roles in medicines optimisation, clinical trials, procurement, aseptic dispensing, medicines safety, education and training and more.

The successful candidate will enrol onto an Apprenticeship Pharmacy Technician Training Programme to develop the necessary knowledge and skills to become a pharmacy technician whilst working.

Minimum entry requirements are 4 GCSE's at Grade 4/C or above or equivalent, which must include Maths, English and two Sciences.

A full UK driving licence and vehicle for business use is required for this post; however reasonable adjustments will be made for disabled individuals in line with the Equality Act 2010.

Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment.

You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. An annual fee of £16 per year applies.

Main duties of the job

You will need to work with healthcare professionals, patients and carers  to provide a pharmacy service under the supervision of a pharmacist or pharmacy technician and therefore must demonstrate excellent communication skills.

You must be able to work efficiently, be extremely organised  and with excellent attention to detail.

To complete the course and enable professional registration you will need to be self motivated and highly committed, developing the necessary knowledge and skills to become a pharmacy technician.

Four days a week will be gaining vocational experience with one day per week study to complete the underpinning knowledge modules led by the course provider.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Please refer to the job description and person specification attached.

You will mainly be required to work in our pharmacy at The Wells Road Centre. There will be rotations to other areas throughout our Trust such as Highbury Hospital, Lings Bar Hospital, Blossomwood and Sherwood Oaks and it is therefore essential that you can travel between these sites.

Please note that this post does not meet the pay level required for a Skilled worker visa.

Successful applicants with no prior NHS experience would normally be placed at the bottom of the band in line with Agenda for Change. This salary is below the minimum salary required for sponsorship for a Skilled Worker / Health & Care visa. In these circumstances the Trust would not, therefore, be able to sponsor for a Skilled Worker / Health & Care visa.

Applicants requiring a Skilled Worker Visa can determine the likelihood of obtaining a Certificate of Sponsorship against the relevant criteria here https://www.gov.uk/skilled-worker-visa
