NHS Medical & Dental: Consultant
Job overview
This is a one-year locum post for an interventional cardiologist with a specialist interest in complex coronary intervention at the Trent Cardiac Centre (TCC). We are looking for a talented and dynamic individual to fill this new post within the Cardiology Department at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH) primarily to continue to support the coronary intervention and general cardiology services.
Main duties of the job
We are seeking an individual focused on excellence and innovation, who will contribute to the delivery and development of the coronary service including complex and CHIP cases. The post-holder will contribute to the rota for primary PCI and acute cardiology services, providing additional support for the increasing number of patients admitted with acute general cardiac conditions as well as deliver cardiology (general and specialist) outpatient clinics.
This post will include 2-4 sessions of work per week in the cardiac catheter labs. The workload will compromise a mixture of elective and non-elective predominantly coronary interventional procedures. All activity will be delivered within the tertiary centre at TCC. The post holder will join a rota (1:10) to provide Primary PCI on-call during weekdays. The appointee will also participate in the consultant of the week rota, responsible for post-take Cardiology rounds rotating through the Acute Cardiac Unit (ACU) and in-patient wards on a 3:20 rotation. The weekend ward work contribution is 1:10 per rota basis, including a 24 hour Primary PCI on-call on either Saturday or Sunday. Time off in-lieu is given for weekend working.
