An exciting opportunity has arisen for the challenging but rewarding role of Ward Sister / Charge nurse to join the team on Ward E14.
Ward E14 is a 28 bedded ward that currently cares for surgical patients with primary focus being Colorectal.
The successful applicant will already be a developing inspirational leader with the ability to motivate and develop a team and work with patients to deliver excellence in nursing care. A kind and caring manner in supporting our patients, their families and our dedicated team of staff is vital to this role.
In order to succeed you will have excellent patient care, clinical and managerial skills. You will have experience in a surgical area, or similar environment in the role of Deputy Sister / Charge nurse and recent experience of acute care environments. Excellent communication skills are also essential to this role.

You will be self-driven, innovative with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You will also be highly motivated with a desire to provide the highest standards of care, whilst demonstrating clear leadership. You will provide support and supervision of nursing and non-nursing staff; assist in maintaining and monitoring of standards through Nursing Metrics Dashboard, Essence of Care Benchmarks and Trust Infection Control Audits and standards.

The successful candidate will be supported to develop their leadership and managerial skills. You will lead by example to deliver excellence in patient care. You will have excellent communication and organisation skills. You will be enthusiastic and motivated and will enjoy working in a fast paced ever changing environment.
You will be expected to work as part of the clinical team and lead that team to deliver the highest possible standards of care. A desire to improve patient experience is essential

Training & Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Current level one NMC registration
- Degree in health / nursing related Studies
- Relevant post-basic study relevant to specialty
- Have a suitable Teaching & Assessing / Mentoring Qualification
- Formal leadership and management training
Desirable criteria
- Research training/experience
- Completion of all local competency packages.
- Continuing professional development/ reflective profile
Experience
Essential criteria
- post registration experience to include management/leadership experience
- Supervision of non-registered staff, pre-registration and post basic students
- Evidence of ability to mentor
- Ability to lead change and lead new ways of working
Desirable criteria
- Experience of audit/research.
- Formal teaching of groups of staff
- Clinical experience within the speciality
