Job overview
Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking an experienced and motivated Advanced Analyst (Band 7) to join the Contracting & Commissioning Data Sets (CDS) Team. The post holder will provide specialist analytical expertise, delivering high quality, timely and accurate information to support contracting, Finance and Commissioning, performance management and statutory reporting.
The role will involve the analysis and interpretation of complex datasets and data flows. The post holder will be able to support with improving reporting processes and quality for our CDS and contracting reports.
Working with a degree of autonomy, the post holder will liaise with a range of internal and external stakeholders, to support and inform operational and managerial decision-making, in line with national guidance and Trust priorities.
Main duties of the job
Provide specialist analytical support, delivering high quality, timely and accurate data to support Commissioning, Finance, performance management and statutory reporting requirements
Undertake the analysis and interpretation of complex, large scale healthcare datasets, including CDS and related national returns, ensuring compliance with national guidance and local business rules
Develop, maintain and improve routine and ad-hoc reports, dashboards and data extracts
Apply working knowledge of database architecture, design and data flows to support data extraction, transformation with reporting processes, working with colleagues to resolve data quality or system issues
Act as an analytical liaison with internal stakeholder, including Finance, Information, Clinical and Operational teams, to understand requirements and translate them into analytical outputs
Identify, investigate and support in the resolution of data quality issues
Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of analytical processes, documentation and standards within the team
Provide training, advice and informal supervision to junior analysts or non-analytical colleagues, promoting good practice in the user and understanding of data
Ensure all work is undertaken in accordance with Information Governance, data protection and Trust Polices.

Training & Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Educated to degree level or equivalent learning/experience in relevant fields. e.g. informatics, analysis, statistics or operational research, health informatics
- Post graduate qualification or equivalent learning/experience in relevant fields
- Evidence of continued personal development
- Experience of working in an analytical role within an acute hospital setting
Desirable criteria
- Masters or above in relevant fields e.g. informatics, analysis, statistics or operational research, CDS, health informatics
- Qualification or training in database management, architecture, database design
Experience
Essential criteria
- Highly developed specialist knowledge of CDS, PbR, NHS contracting processes
- Experience in using statistical & analytical techniques and information analysis, acquired though degree level or equivalent.
- Experience of detailed analysis and validation of various types of data
- Detailed knowledge & understanding of Health Informatics
- Experience of working in an analytical role within an acute hospital setting
- Experience of using query languages, including MySQL, SQL, QLIK.
Desirable criteria
- Experience of supervising staff/leading projects
- Experience of implementation of projects for new systems and the development of in-house processes
- Experience in developing tools using Business Intelligence software (e.g. Qlikview, Tableau, SSRS, R, Python)
- Experience of presenting or demonstrating work/projects at team or department level
- Experience or database design, database management, database processes and architecture.
