An exciting opportunity has arisen for us to recruit to a Band 7 post to lead our friendly Day SurgeryTeam, based at QMC Treatment centre Campus.
Gateway G has 5 operating theatres undertaking most specialities, a 26 bay ward area and a pre-assessment area.
You will be joining a pro-active, dynamic team of nurses and ODP’s, who offer the best standards of perioperative care. Every day is different - challenging but rewarding. We pride ourselves on team work, learning and being forward thinking.

The successful candidate will be supported to develop their leadership ability and managerial skills. You will lead by example to deliver excellence in patient care. You will have excellent communication and organisation skills. You will be enthusiastic and motivated and will enjoy working in a fast paced ever changing environment
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a dynamic and motivated person with the appropriate experience and skills to work closely with the existing team structure and demonstrate the skills to support further development of these expanding services. You will need to demonstrate the ability to be able to work flexibly in diverse clinical environments. The successful applicant will have a high level of self-management skills including time management, prioritisation and organisation
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential to build on the network required for the role. You will also be able to demonstrate that you have successfully lead change previously and evidence of delivering initiatives and new ways of working.
You must be committed to a high standard of patient care and safety. You will have a flexible attitude to work and be able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team. Day Surgery experience / knowledge is essential.

- Is able to co-ordinate the clinical area in order to meet patient needs
- Is capable of implementing strategies relating to clinical governance and infection prevention
- Has experience of participating in audit process
- Recognises own role as part of the team and encourages high standards
- Enables team members to set achievable objectives
- Current level one NMC/HCPC registration
- BSc in relevant Healthcare Practice or working towards a BSc in relevant Healthcare Practice.
- Formal leadership and management training
- experience at band 6 or equivalent Competence in complex clinical skills
- Experience in more than one speciality
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
