This is an exciting opportunity for a dietetic assistant to join the Children's Dietetic team at Nottingham Children's Hospital. The dietetic team is a team of around 30 consisting of dietitians ,dietetic assistants, dietetic technicians and administration staff. They look after infants, children and adolescents on special diets within the Children's Hospital across many specialities such as oncology, gastroenterology, renal and diabetes. 

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual who can communicate clearly in a variety of settings, has excellent IT and organisational skills, plus experience of working with people.

Main duties of the job

You will work closely with the team to support patients and families' nutritional needs including having a key role in supporting patients on tube feeds at home. You will be a highly valued member of both the dietetic and specialist multidisciplinary teams (MDT) within the Nottingham Children's Hospital. You will also be responsible in coordinating and managing nutritional feed supplies across the department, ensuring efficient stock control and distribution ensuring the correct level of nutritional products on each ward.  This includes lifting boxes of nutritional products up to 15kg to support deliveries at ward level.

The role will also work closely with all the dietitians in supporting administrative tasks including typing of letters and telephone calls to patients, carers and other other service users .

The post holder will work as a Dietetic Assistant within the Dietetic and Nutrition service under the guidance and supervision of qualified therapy staff.

The post holder will undertake monitoring of designated patients under the direction of the Dietitian as well as associated administrative tasks to support patient care.

The post holder will help with Planning, delivering and evaluating educational and health promotion activities.

The post holder will be responsible for stock management of nutritional products

The post holder will work alongside others engaged in the delivery of patient care working within the departmental structure and under the supervision of the appropriate team leader.

 

The post holder may be based on either campus of Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.

Training and Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of literacy and numeracy such as Maths and English grades A-C
  • Evidence of personal development in current or previous role
