An exciting opportunity has arisen for a PA/ Waiting List Coordinator to join our excellent Elective Orthopaedics Team. We are looking for someone with a keen eye for detail, able to accurately input data and confident in the use of technology. The successful candidate will be a conscientious and enthusiastic team player with excellent organisational and communication skills.
The posts will provide cover to the EMSON Network Coordinator and provide support to the quarterly M&M meetings.
Main duties of the job
Waiting List Coordinators are responsible for the management of waiting lists on behalf of their consultants. This involves effectively managing waiting lists, outpatient clinics, patient appointments, consultant annual leave and diaries, and being the important point of contact for patients who are awaiting treatment at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.
Working as part of a team, the post holder will support the provision of high-quality waiting list management to consultant orthopaedic surgeons in accordance with the Trust Patient Access Policy. The Waiting List Coordinator will arrange and offer operation dates, compile theatre lists, highlight specialist equipment required and ensure theatre time is fully utilised. They are a key central role within the services and will be required to work in close liaison with consultants, pre-op teams, NHS colleagues and patients.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
· Educated to GCSE standard with passes at grade C or above for English and Maths or similar through vocational training
· Good command of the English language – both written and spoken.
· Proven clerical experience
· Experience of Microsoft Outlook, Word
· Experience of working to deadlines
Friendly and professional telephone manner
Must be able to clearly and accurately convey information written and verbally to different audiences including patients, GPs, Medical PAs, Consultants, Managers, hospital admin & clinical staff
· Must be able to handle telephone calls from distressed or angry patients or carers
· Use judgement and decision-making skills
· Self-motivated
· Must have a full understanding of the Data Protection Act 1998 and be fully conversant with patient confidentiality
Demonstrates an ability to organise own work schedule
Manages time effectively
· Excellent organisational/co-ordination/work prioritisation skills
· Consistently works to a high standard
