The successful candidate would be expected to work across all areas of the department but will have a special interest and expertise in paediatric EEG and sleep studies. The successful candidate will be expected to carry out routine, sleep deprived, melatonin and ambulatory EEG recordings on children and young people in both an outpatient and inpatient setting including on the paediatric and neonatal critical care units. Some patients will have highly complex needs and the post holder will be required to have patience, empathy and a creative outlook to ensure the highest quality recording is achieved. In addition, the post holder will carry out sleep studies such as multiple sleep latency testing and polysomnography. The post holder will be expected to provide a quality factual report on all investigations, progressing to reporting normal EEGs in patients over two years and reporting MSLT.
Experience in intraoperative spinal cord monitoring and upper and lower limb nerve conductions studies will be a bonus. The department currently has a 24/7 on call service which requires competency in cerebral function monitoring but training for this, and any other procedures the candidate is unfamiliar with, will be provided.
Regular self-directed CPD sessions will be allocated. There are regular department CPD and interesting case meetings plus access to paediatric neurology and paediatric sleep MDT.
