Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a People Policy Manager to join the  People Policy and Governance Team.  Applicants will be experienced People professionals looking to further utilise their knowledge and skills in a diverse role.   

The role will work proactively to support People Policy development and improvement and undertake relevant project work. You will support with the implementation of Trust wide and national people initiatives. 

You will deputise for the Head of People Policy and Governance where appropriate and will line manage the People Policy and Governance Advisors to ensure a high quality service is provided at all times.

Main duties of the job

As our People Policy Manager, you will lead the full lifecycle of policy development and implementation, supporting the Trust’s People Strategy and values. Working autonomously, you’ll lead the team to research, design and maintain a framework of innovative, legally compliant HR/People policies, guidance, toolkits and resources that reflect best practice and national priorities. 

The People Policy Manager will: 

  • Collaborate with other People colleagues and stakeholders, including staff side and external partners, to develop and review policies and procedures. 

  • Develop and deliver bespoke training sessions and presentations to a range of audiences. 

  • Monitor and report on policy implementation and performance. 

  • Provide expert advice on employment law and HR best practice, ensuring fair and effective application across the Trust. 

  • Support and lead on key People projects and initiatives, ensuring timely and effective delivery. 

  • Participate in job evaluation panels and advise on job descriptions to support fair and consistent grading. 

  • Contribute to the coordination of Trust-wide communications on People-related matters.

Essential criteria
  • Masters level / Level 7 Advanced CIPD HR qualification or equivalent demonstrable experience at a similar level
  • Active membership of CIPD

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Recent comprehensive and in depth HR experience
  • Developing, reviewing, consulting on and implementing organisation-wide HR policies and procedures
  • Advising and supporting senior managers in dealing with a range of operational and strategic HR matters
Desirable criteria
  • Good knowledge of Agenda for Change Terms and Conditions of Service
  • Experience of HR Governance and risk management
