To ensure a high quality antenatal and newborn screening service is provided for women and families within the resources available by developing, reviewing and implementing programmes in line with national evidence/recommendations.
To provide leadership within the antenatal and newborn screening and counselling service at Nottingham NHS Trust and establish an infrastructure that will deliver a level of service, which is equitable, evidence based and consistent with the recommendations and standards of the UK National Screening Committee (UK NSC)
To work, closely with the Quality Risk Safety team and participate in investigations of
antenatal and newborn screening incidents and share learning from incidents and changes in practice with Staff.
To operate and monitor all failsafe system to identify, as early as possible, mothers and babies that may have missed or where screening results are incomplete.
To liaise with NHS England (NHSE) and Quality Assurance (QA) and participate fully in national Quality Assurance processes, co-operate in undertaking ad-hoc audits and reviews as requested by QA teams and respond in a timely manner to their recommendations.
Work collaboratively with the education lead to ensure that health professionals involved in antenatal and newborn screening keep up to date with nationally approved training programmes, maintain professional registration where appropriate and comply with safeguarding requirements.

Provide and support the antenatal and newborn screening at a service-based level within the maternity service.To act as a Specialist Midwife in the field of antenatal and newborn screening and diagnosis.
To provide advice and assistance for health care professionals in the care of clients undergoing screening.
Maintain clear and accurate records of care given. Maintain records of
women with pregnancies affected by abnormal ANNBS screening
results to ensure specialist care and treatment including results and
outcomes are documented and auditable.
Undertake the leadership and coordination of a designated team liaising
with midwifery, medical, nursing and any other colleagues, as
appropriate.
Manage the rota for all staff within the antenatal and newborn
screening team where required, including monitoring sickness and
absence of staff and taking action as appropriate.
Practice within the policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines agreed by the NUH Trust, the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and the maternity service.
Report any possible risks or critical adverse incidents arising from the
screening service through the clinical risk management process.
