An opportunity to work in a busy Ophthalmology service at Queen's Medical Centre, within a multi-disciplinary team including medical, nursing, orthoptic and imaging colleagues in delivering a full range of sub-speciality services. 

If you are an enthusiastic, highly motivated optometrist, with good communication skills and the ability to be adaptable to the changing needs of the department, you will enjoy the opportunity to work within our optometry team undertaking a varied caseload.

 

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

 To deliver a comprehensive range of core optometric services and some extended role services to the highest standards of quality and care.

 To work as an autonomous practitioner providing optometric assessment, diagnosis and management of patients of all ages, ranging from pre-term babies to the elderly and those who have varying communication skills. 

To participate in the delivery of certain more complex specialist optometric services that meet the changing needs of the Directorate and other outside agencies.

To undertake clinical audit and research in line with departmental requirement's

To provide teaching and training at undergraduate and postgraduate levels for various disciplines within ophthalmology (ophthalmologists, medical students, ophthalmic nurses, Orthoptist and other health professionals) visiting the Optometry Department.

Qualifications

  • BSc Optometry 2:2 or better
  • GOC registration
  • AOP membership
Meini prawf dymunol
  • HSD diabetic screening/City and Guilds equivalent/

Experience

  • Clinical experience in hospital based optometric practice
  • Evidence of CPD

  • Experience in paediatric refraction, low vision and contact lens
