Job overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable, and compassionate individual to join our Reception team in Orthoptics and Optometry service. This busy outpatient setting requires a receptionist who can provide a high standard of front-of-house service, ensuring patients are welcomed, supported, and processed efficiently during their clinic visits.

You will be the first point of contact for patients, carers, and clinicians, playing a vital role in the smooth running of our outpatient clinics. The role demands excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.

The department provides services Monday to Saturday and there will be a rotation to evening and weekend working.

Main duties of the job

Ensure patient records and clinic lists are up to date and available for clinical staff.

Handle queries in a courteous and timely manner, signposting as necessary.

Liaise with a range of clinical and administrative colleagues to support smooth clinic operations.

Maintain confidentiality at all times and comply with Trust policies including data protection and infection control.

Support patients with additional needs in accessing the service appropriately.
