Highly Specialist Physiotherapist Neuromuscular Out Patients

We have a great opportunity for a part time (15 hours/week) Highly Specialist Physiotherapist in the Neuromuscular out-patient service.
Neuromuscular Out-Patients is a regional service offering specialist multi-disciplinary assessment and interventions for adults with a range of neuromuscular conditions.
We require a physiotherapist with highly developed clinical skills and a passion for working with this client group, providing clinical leadership and expertise within the physiotherapy and wider multidisciplinary team. You will work closely alongside a Neuromuscular Care Advisor and Consultant Neurologist, contributing to a national network of specialists in this field. You will be involved in performing specialist assessments and gathering outcome data for patient care and national research databases.
This service is based at Queens Medical Centre however the role requires flexibility to work across NUH sites and to travel regionally as required, therefore a full driving licence and access to your own vehicle is essential.

You will need excellent communication skills to facilitate close working relationships with members of the multidisciplinary team and to promote multi-agency working across the region to enhance patient experience. You will provide up to date knowledge and education to colleagues across the region regarding these rare conditions.
You will require excellent clinical reasoning skills and a holistic, compassionate approach to supporting patients with complex and sometimes life limiting conditions. Providing education to patients, families and carers to promote self-management is an important element of the role.
Alongside strong clinical skills you will require organisational and time management skills to effectively balance referral management, out patient clinics, home visits, data collection and service development in line with standards of care.

- Health and Care Professional Council (HCPC) registration
- Recognised post-graduate training relevant to specialty preferably including MSc or completed modules
- Evidence of ongoing professional development

- Demonstrate risk assessment skills for the safe management of complex patients
- Able to make judgements about the prioritising of caseloads when demand exceeds capacity and to re-allocate staffing resources
Communication and relationship skills

- Communicate complex patient related information effectively to ensure collaborative working with MDT colleagues across health & social care sectors

- Able to understand team dynamics and adapt approach to achieve the best outcome for patients
- Able to present clinical information to health professions at National Conference level or equivalent
Experience

- Wide ranging and extensive experience of working within neurological rehabilitation
- Knowledge of current best practice within a clinical specialty
- Knowledge of national and local standards and national guidelines
- Able to plan and deliver clinical education about theory and practice to individuals, team and the wider MDT (including students)
- Able to undertake evidence-based audit of own practice and the practice of other staff within a specific clinical area
