Job overview

The Trust Programme Management Office (TPMO) has a vital role in the delivery of NUH’s ambition to be outstanding in health outcomes and patient and staff experience and has a remit covering all programmes across the Trust.

The Trust PMO comprises of a team of programme and project professionals focused on improving the successful delivery of programmes by providing a wide range of  Portfolio, Programme and Project, Management services to NUH Clinical and Corporate Divisions.  This includes: delivery, providing frameworks and standards, advising sponsors, developing capability / training, providing governance, oversight and Assurance to the Trust Board, and developing the Programme and Project Management community within NUH and across the NH

Main duties of the job

The purpose of this role is to assist Programme Managers in the execution and delivery of Trust PMO Programmes with a dedicated focus on A&C Transformation Programme.

The post holder will be responsible for the development and production of programme reporting at all levels of the organisation and ensure that threats, risks and issues affecting programme success are identified, recorded and actioned. 

The role requires significant organisational skills, initiative, time management skills and personal credibility.

The post holder will play an active part in the Programme team and the associated programme activities through, for example, ensuring programmes and projects follow the Trust’s programme management framework, being a useful point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, setting and managing corrective actions and managing the delivery of projects under the supervision of Programme Managers.

The role will require strong persuasive and negotiating skills to ensure effective engagement of all parties and effective assurance of the programmes across all work streams and stakeholders. The post holder will work directly with the Programme Manager to analyse, identify and disseminate programme insights, utilising programme management systems to develop solutions in a timely manner.

The post holder will be required to work at all NUH campuses, off site venues and flexibly as required for the role.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The role will form part of the Admin & Clerical Transformation Team, to support the delivery of the A&C Transformation programme across the Trust as part of NUH’s Care Optimisation and Financial Sustainability Plan. The successful applicant will work closely with Care Groups and Corporate Teams to execute programme objectives.             

We are seeking a proactive and experienced programme co-ordinator who can:

Demonstrate strong persuasive and negotiating skills to ensure effective engagement of all parties and effective assurance of the projects across all work streams and stakeholders.

Engage and influence stakeholders at all levels within the programme to achieve benefits realisation.

Navigate large-scale transformation programmes with a strong understanding of change management, improvement methodology and performance delivery.

Training & Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated to Degree level (preferably in a relevant field) or significant recent equivalent work experience level gained through work in similar role
  • A Project or Programme Management Qualification
  • Experience using Project Portfolio Management (PPM) tools

Experience

  • Recent experience in a programme or project support role
  • Ability to accurately input data into a variety of spreadsheets / databases
  • Problem solving abilities

  • Knowledge of wider NHS issues
