Junior Programme Lead

Do you want a hands-on job that both develops you and makes a real difference to our hospital services?

At its core, the aim of this role is to support the successful delivery of Improvement Projects and Programmes across the Trust.

As a Junior Programme Lead you will partner-up with one of the Senior Programme Leads and together provide oversight, advice, guidance, structure and support to a portion of the Trust’s programmes and projects.  This role will be ‘hands-on’, helping the project and programme owners plan their project and use the Trust’s Project Management System to plan, progress and report their projects and programmes.

As part of the Trust PMO you will be involved in all aspects of the Trust PMO’s work, including: developing tools, templates and services; ‘back-office admin’; ‘system admin’, action tracking and report generation; providing administrative support services to the Trust PMO & key Improvement Teams and being a point of contact for enquiries and requests for help.  As such will will gain insight into many parts of hospital activity and engage with staff at all levels.

As the role develops there may be scope that this post can become permanent. This will be assessed over time.

Work as a member of the Trust PMO team to develop its services and provide administrative support to the team.

Work in partnership with a Senior Programme Lead to provide programme and project management oversight, structure & support, and practical advice & guidance to customers for a portion of the Trust’s programmes and projects.

Provide co-ordination between the Programme/Project teams, stakeholders and suppliers.

Arrange and attend project meetings, produce meeting notes and action plans; and then follow up actions as appropriate.

Develop and maintain Programme/Project plans and risk & issue logs and track progress against these plans & actions.

Support the Trust PMO in the preparation, circulation and updating of management, governance and quality documents & reports.

Interrogation and preparation of extracts & reports using the Trust’s programme management system, namely “Upland PowerSteering”, and other applications such as MS Excel.

The Trust Programme Management Office (PMO) has a vital role in the delivery of NUH’s ambitions to be outstanding in health outcomes and patient and staff experience.

The Trust PMO comprises of a small team of project professionals concerned with improving the successful delivery of projects by providing a wide range of Project, Programme & Portfolio Management services to NUH Clinical and Corporate Divisions.  This includes providing a Project Management Framework and Standards, developing Project Management capability and training, providing Programme Governance oversight and Assurance to the Trust Board, and developing the Project Management community within NUH and across the NHS.

You are expected to develop professionally whilst being part of the Trust PMO.  As part of the learning contract for this role, you will be enrolled on a fully funded “Level 4 Assistant Project Manager” course, which includes the Association for Project Management (APM) Project Management Qualification (PMQ), and will be allocated 20% of your working time towards this training and associated learning. The expectation is for you to achieve these qualifications within a 15 month period.
