We have an exciting opportunity to join our team at the Nottingham Radiotherapy Centre as a  Radiotherapy Clerical Assistant .  We would love to hear from any enthusiastic applicants who want to work as part of a team supporting this busy service on the city campus at NUH.

Key elements of the role include

1. To work as a receptionist  providing a front line face to face and telephone contact point for the Radiotherapy Department

2. To work as part of a team of clerical staff within the Radiotherapy Department

3. To provide comprehensive administrative and clerical support to the Radiotherapy Department.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of the job will be greeting our patients and visitors as they enter the department and enabling them to have a smooth journey.  this will be achieved by.

  • Logging the attendance of patients on the Radiotherapy Department IT system.
  • Prepare patient related paper-work on behalf of the radiographers.
  • Arranging transport for patients when required.
  • Liaise with the ambulance service to minimise patients waiting times.
  • Monitor and report waiting times for patients travelling by hospital transport.
  • Arrange follow up appointments, utilising judgement and decision making skills to negotiate appointment times to meet both the patient and the Trust requirements.
  • Ensure all patients that completed their treatment have a follow up appointment

Training and Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • GCSE in Maths and English (grade C and above) or equivalent or NVQ 2 in administration
Desirable criteria
  • Hospital ICT systems experience

  • Relevant work experience in similar patient/customer facing area

  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting or working as part of a team in a busy, challenging environment
