Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time band 8a Matron post for the Neurosurgery services within the Surgery and Associated Services Care Group at Nottingham University Hospital.

The post holder will be responsible for the following areas; Ward D10, Ward D11, Neuro Spinal Post operative unit and Neurosurgery Nurse specialists.  The specialties have a strong reputation for training and innovation and the multidisciplinary team, work closely together to ensure patients receive the best possible care and outcome.

This role will work alongside other Matrons within the Surgery and Associated Services Care Group.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a highly motivated professional nurse to undertake the role of Matron. You will have an extensive skill set in nursing management and leadership and be an effective communicator. You will be a positive role model and hold responsibility to support the developments of Clinical Governance and Service Improvement, modernise patient services and ensure the active involvement of patients and carers in the way services are developed, delivered and evaluated. The post is critical in ensuring safe, quality patient care and experience is provided by the clinical teams and the health and wellbeing of staff remains high on the agenda.

  • Qualified Practitioner - NMC PIN
  • First Degree in Health related subject
  • Evidence of CPD
  • Management qualification or relevant experience
  • ENB 998 or equivalent teaching course
