Job overview
This role requires an individual to join the Intellectual Disability & Developmental Service (IDD) Single Point of Access (SPA) team working on a part time basis. We are seeking an individual with excellent organisational skills with the ability to work without direct supervision, prioritising all incoming referrals and acting on own initiative, where required; pre-empting issues and working to solve them in an appropriate manner. In addition, capability of providing a good typing, and customer service, applying effective written and verbal communication systems and also working as part of a team.

Main duties of the job
This role requires an individual with the skills, expertise, and sound knowledge in working with individuals with an Intellectual Disability. The individual will be able to work as part of a team as well as autonomously and be able to prioritise referrals screening according to their level of need.
You will be experienced with sourcing information from people with an IDD, carers and wider MDT via the telephone as well as identifying and responding to any safeguarding concerns.
Maintain a professional attitude as a representative and first point of contact for referrers to IDD Community services.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To be responsible for processing all incoming referrals to the SPA, dealing with queries, taking detailed messages and responding or referring them to the relevant member of the multi disciplinary team in a timely manner as defined in the agreed referral management protocols.
To use communication skills effectively to enable referrers to explain needs and the assistance required.
To seek advice and guidance of the line manager/duty clinician if appropriate services are not available.
To ensure that all referral documentation contains appropriate and relevant information to assist the clinicians.
To be responsible for data input in electronic clinical records to support the regular flow of information between SPA, clinical teams and other partner agencies/departments as required.
To ensure that electronic systems are kept up to date at all times by entering and amending information onto the computer database as required to allow audit and relevant reports to be produced as required.
To ensure that communications with other health care professionals are managed in accordance with local and Trust Policy.
To cover in the absence of other SPA colleagues.
Please note that this post does not meet the pay level required for a Skilled worker visa.
Successful applicants with no prior NHS experience would normally be placed at the bottom of the band in line with Agenda for Change. This salary is below the minimum salary required for sponsorship for a Skilled Worker / Health & Care visa. In these circumstances the Trust would not, therefore, be able to sponsor for a Skilled Worker / Health & Care visa.

Essential criteria
- Relevant Professional qualification e.g. RMN, RN, HV, OT, clinical psychology, Social Worker at degree level or higher; teaching qualification
- Registration with relevant professional body
Desirable criteria
- Educated to Degree level
- Qualification in therapeutic approaches with intellectual disabilities and families
Experience
Essential criteria
- Proven post qualification experience
- Experience of Multi agency work
- Experience of maintaining written records, databases and producing reports.
- Significant proven post education experience
- Experience of mental health triage
- Providing psychoeducation around a wide range of differing emotional and mental health needs
- • Proven ability to undertake accurate risk screening and provide harm reduction advice
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of the ability to use and provide clinical supervision

Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and documents pertaining to intellectual disabilities
- Knowledge and experience of provision of a holistic emotional/mental health assessment
- Knowledge and experience of the provision of different models of therapy and interventions
- Ability to maintain accurate case records in line with Trust policies and procedure
- Ability to be an autonomous practitioner whilst being able to work as an integral part of a multi-agency team
- Be committed to anti discriminatory/anti oppressive practice and equal opportunity

- Ability to use electronic data recording systems
- Knowledge and application of behaviour programmes and support for people with emotional health problems
- Knowledge of currently available universal services and their offers of support
Skills
Essential criteria
- Skills and experience of working with adults with intellectual disabilities and families around a range of emotional/mental health, behavioural and additional health or developmental needs.
- Ability to work independently and prioritise own workload.
- Ability to triage presentation and acuity of emotional and mental health concerns and identify appropriate treatment pathways
- Ability to maintain clear professional boundaries when working with a potentially challenging patient group.
Desirable criteria
- Providing clinical supervision and mentorship to junior staff
- Other skills as relevant to the post
Contractual Requirements
Essential criteria
- To work flexibly with regard location and hours as core SPA hours are 09:00-17:00 and work outside this may at times be needed
