Job overview

This is a diverse role and you must be prepared to work flexibly as service need requires. Your main duties will centre around the provision of a finance service to patients involving delivering money to patients on the wards and patient contact will be an essential part of your duties.  You will be responsible for ensuring timely input of withdrawals and deposits to the financial software (Harlequin), reconciling of accounts, patient bank transfers, regular account statements, making welfare benefit claims, petty cash transactions and assisting patients with finance queries and so forth.  We are looking for a candidate who is non-judgmental, respects individual’s legal and personal rights, has strong communication, excellent attention to detail and a professional, supportive and empathic attitude to patients and colleagues.

Main duties of the job

Applicants must have relevant administrative experience, preferably in a similar patient/customer service facing role and have RSAIII or the equivalent experience, together with a good standard of general education, including literacy and maths.  You will have a good knowledge of modern IT packages i.e. Microsoft Office applications (e.g. Word, Excel & Outlook) and experience of using software systems. You will be able to work confidentially and adhere to boundaries. Previous experience of finance would be advantageous, but is not essential. Wathwood Hospital uses Harlequin financial software and training will be provided, if necessary.
