Job overview

Sherwood Forest Hospitals are seeking  an experienced and enthusiastic pharmacist to lead and shape our new Emergency Department pharmacy service.  There is opportunity to develop advanced practice and enhance leadership skills and knowledge with an emphasis on innovation.  You will be supported to identify and enhance services alongside the multidisciplinary team who are enthusiastic to work collaboratively to deliver optimal pharmaceutical care to our patients.

This role focuses on the leadership of the new service in ensuring patients have 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring patients in the Emergency Department receive critical medicines within the time frames required
  • Ensuring medicines management processes are monitored and updated in line with local, regional and national standards
  • Support the Emergency medicine MDT in efficient ways of working to maximise individuals skill-set
  • Monitor and identify cost effective medicine initiatives in the Emergency Department
  • Support the clinical pharmacy service in delivering against locally agreed KPIs

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • BSc, BPharm or MPharm in Pharmacy
  • Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
  • Diploma or MSc in clinical pharmacy gained through post-graduate study including the CPPE Primary care pharmacy education pathway
  • Independent prescribing
Desirable criteria
  • Post-graduate studies relevant to clinical pharmacy
  • Qualification in leadership and/or management.

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Clinical Pharmacy knowledge associated with a 4 year Pharmacy degree course.
  • Experience gained through successful completion of pre-registration training.
  • Significant hospital pharmacy experience gained through vocational practice.
  • Awareness of NHS priorities in clinical area (Emergency Medicine)
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of specialist work within Emergency Medicine
  • Evidence-based practice.

  • Experience of extended clinical pharmacy roles
  • Experience of staff management.
  • Experience of medicine evaluation and expenditure reporting
