An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Specialist Nursing Team within Neonates and Paediatrics at Sherwood Forest Hospitals. We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable individual to lead and support infant feeding practices across our Neonatal and Children’s services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote and support evidence-based infant feeding management.
  • Ensure all staff are equipped to support families’ infant feeding choices both in hospital and at home.
  • Maintain and implement pathways aligned with UNICEF Baby Friendly standards, including Neonatal Standards and Hospital-Based Children’s Standards.
  • Develop, implement, and audit relevant pathways, policies, and processes related to infant feeding and newborn care.
  • Provide training, guidance, and foster effective communication across the division to support a positive learning environment.

Qualifications

  • Degree or post graduate diploma
  • ENB 998 or similar teaching qualification

Further Training

  • Completion of UNICEF Baby Friendly courses: Breastfeeding and Relationship Building, Train the Trainer
  • Embedding Neonatal standards into Neonatal care
  • Hospital Based Standards

Experience

  • Relevant experience at a Band 6
  • Experience of working in a multidisciplinary tea
  • Evidence of delivering high quality teaching to staff groups
  • Experience of managing and developing colleagues
  • Evidence of Continuous Professional Development
  • Evidence in multiagency working
  • Experience of working with external agencies

  • Involvement in Breastfeeding support/speciality eg. Breastfeeding champion, knowledge / involvement with Baby Friendly assessments or champion role
