Job overview
Join our dedicated and dynamic paediatric team at King’s Mill Hospital, where we care for children aged 0–19 across a wide range of specialities. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a small, supportive team that manages all ward admissions and referrals, including:
- Medical, Surgical, Neurodisability, Orthopaedic, Respiratory, Rehabilitation, and Repatriation cases
- Cystic Fibrosis admissions and Induced Sputum sampling
- Complex discharge planning and HDU bed coverage for respiratory and rehabilitation needs
We also support Maternity and NICU for children born with:
- Positional Talipes
- Torticollis
- Erb’s Palsy
- Other birthing injuries or packaging disorders
Our team runs a daily outpatient caseload for Positional Talipes and plays a key role in training and education, including:
- Medical students and staff
- Physiotherapy and OT university students
- Work experience placements
- On-call staff training and competency development
- Annual Paediatric On-call updates
Applicants must be willing to participate in the on-call rota, which includes both adult and paediatric responsibilities.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements
Essential criteria
- Sound Clinical knowledge of core conditions and applied therapy technique
- Ability to prioritise & work under pressure
- Delegation skills
- Excellent communication skills (verbal & written)
- As an autonomous practitioner, is able to work as a team member as well as alone but with access to more senior colleague
- IT skills - basic
- Knowledge of NHS procedures, policies and guidelines
- Ability to formulate and develop specialised individual treatment programmes and ability in using clinical reasoning skills based on current best practice
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- BSc (Hons) or Graduate Diploma in Physiotherapy / Occupational Therapy or equivalent
- Registration with HCPC
- Membership of relevant Professional Body
- Evidence of experience in the form of an up to date professional development portfolio
Further Training
Essential criteria
- Attendance at relevant clinical post graduate courses taught often at modular Masters level and relevant to all core specialities
- Practice Placement Educators training / clinical supervisors training
Desirable criteria
- Leadership Training
Experience
Essential criteria
- NHS experience
- Completion of junior and senior Rotational Programmes (minimum of 18 months in each), or equivalent, working in a wide variety of acute and chronic physical settings
- Experience of working with a variety of therapeutic approaches
- Experience of audit and service review
- Experience of supervising other staff and students
- Evidence of contribution to clinical education of less experienced staff, assistants and students
