Job overview

An exciting opportunity has become available to join our team on a 9-month fixed term/secondment basis as a Clinical Research Practitioner.

Location: Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Chesterfield Royal Hospital, with a focus on the Mobile Research Unit.

This role is essential to coordinate the day-to-day running of the mobile research unit. Responsibilities include liaising with external services to book and deliver research promotional events across our communities. As a Clinical Research Practitioner (CRP), you will also have the opportunity to recruit patients to research studies and conduct study follow-ups. An ability to drive the mobile research unit is essential.

Knowledge Requirements

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of clinical trials
  • Previous recent research/data collection/data input/clinical audit experience
  • Knowledge of GCP and Research Governance
Desirable criteria
  • Ability to evaluate patient eligibility for entry into clinical trials against defined protocols

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated to Diploma level or equivalent level of experience
  • Required to participate in CPD
  • Administrative qualifications
  • An understanding of the research process
  • Proven verbal communication skills with different staff groups
Desirable criteria
  • Study beyond GCSE

Further Training

Desirable criteria
  • Hospital computer systems e.g. Medway, case note tracking, ORION

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working in an NHS setting
  • Knowledge of clinical trials
  • Previous recent research/data collection/data input/clinical audit experience
  • Hospital systems experience (Care Flow, EDGE)
  • Practical Experience and competent in Microsoft Office
  • Experience of working in a laboratory setting
  • Cannulation and Phlebotomy Skills and ECG’s
  • Knowledge of GCP and Research Governance
  • Experience of working within Clinical Trials
Desirable criteria
  • NHS or healthcare related
  • Experience in the clinical care of patients enrolled in research studies
