Clinical Support Worker  - Cancer care

We are looking for a clinical support worker to join our cancer specialist nursing teams who  are central to the delivery of excellent care to cancer patients attending the Oxford University Hospital. Our teams deliver a holistic approach to patient care using the latest technologies to support individualised assessments and care planning.


The Clinical Support worker role has been developed to:

·         provide general information and support about cancer and cancer services.

·         enable people to navigate the health and social care system and make choices that are best for their cancer and their life.

·         Provide daily and direct (e.g. face to face and telephone) communication with patients, relatives, carers, and other health and social care professionals.


You will work closely with the specialist nursing team, the wider MDT and cancer services, providing a service across care boundaries and liaison with primary care.


You should have:

•                    Relevant health or social care experience at AfC Band 3 or equivalent

•                    Evidence of good communications skills both verbal and non-verbal. Including a high degree of empathy,                              understanding, diplomacy, honesty, confidentiality and integrity.

•                    Understanding of person-centred care

•                    An understanding of the health and social care environment

•                    Good IT skills and Effective organisation skills

•                    An ability to deal with complex and difficult emotional situations
