Job overview
- Undertake a range of delegated and specific clinical skills for patients that demonstrate an enhanced
level of competency /technical expertise documented in the plan of care (see specific clinical skills). - Prepare patients, families/carers and the environment for clinical activities supporting and reassuring
patients and their families/carers and preparing specific equipment as necessary. - Monitor closely patients having undergone a clinical activity ensuring their safety, comfort and well –
being. - To assist all patients of all genders with their personal care needs, empowering patients, and/or families/carers and actively encouraging participation. This may involve maintaining hygiene needs for individuals such as helping patients to wash and dress themselves and assisting with toileting needs, maintaining privacy and dignity at all times.
Main duties of the job
GYNAECOLOGY WARD
BAND 2 /3 Nursing Assistant (Grade depending on experience and completion of Care Certificate)
Up to 37.5 HOURS PER WEEK
A nursing Assistant post has become available on the Gynaecology ward. This ward includes a 24 hours triage service, 20 bedded inpatient unit and a day case/theatre direct admissions unit. If you have a genuine interest in Women’s Health and wish to work in a supportive and passionate team, we would like to hear from you.
The role would include working alongside a multidisciplinary team, providing high quality, patient centred care to a wide range of patients with gynaecological conditions. Common emergency conditions include early pregnancy complications, pelvic pain, ovarian incidents, post-operative complications and many more. We also have operating lists 7 days a week, if which our nursing assistants work alongside the nurses to provide post-operative care.
The successful candidate would need to be motivated, organised and possess outstanding communication skills. Candidates should enjoy working in a team environment, work well under pressure and have a flexible approach to work.
You will receive an annual appraisal and personal development plan which will enable you to have structure within your role and help you to develop both personally and professionally. You will receive an orientation period and training during which you will be able to visit other areas related to women’s health and you will have a named mentor.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To asses and monitor the patient’s skin integrity and to report and document immediately any changes or concerns in their condition.
To demonstrate clinical competence in order to undertake minor dressings and treatment and as specified in the plan of care and in consultation with the registered practitioner.
To actively encourage all patients, families/carers to share the responsibility for maintenance of their health and to promote healthy living where appropriate and identified as part of the care plan.
