Consultant Radiologist with an interest in Paediatric imaging

Consultant

The Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust is one of the largest NHS teaching trusts in the country. It provides a wide range of general and specialist clinical services and is a base for medical education, training and research.

The Trust comprises of four hospitals - the John Radcliffe Hospital, Churchill Hospital and Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Headington and the Horton Hospital in Banbury.

Our values, standards and behaviours define the quality of clinical care we offer and the professional relationships we make with our patients, colleagues and the wider community. We call this Delivering Compassionate Excellence and its focus is on our values of compassion, respect, learning, delivery, improvement and excellence. These values put patients at the heart of what we do and underpin the quality healthcare we would like for ourselves or a member of our family. Watch how we set out to deliver compassionate excellence via the OUH YouTube channel.

Many of our recruitment programmes use values-based interviewing to identify those who have the skills we seek, who share our values and who are able to deliver compassionate excellence from the outset. We know that this makes a significance difference to your job satisfaction and above all the outcomes and experience of our patients and their families.

The Trust includes a large paediatric tertiary referral centre with a dedicated paediatric surgical, medical, oncology, urology and neurosurgical units  and is also a major trauma centre.  The Directorate is progressive and keen to invest in the future workforce with such measures as a 4 day week, home reporting, advanced practitioner radiographers and cycle to work schemes.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be part of the paediatric radiology team and deliver high quality diagnostic imaging services across the Trust. Additional subspecialty interests may be accommodated/supported e.g. in paediatric interventional imaging. Candidates with an interest in paediatric intervention will be provided training and support as required.

The Trust is a tertiary referral centre for paediatrics with a large neonatal unit and paediatric intensive care.  The service is delivered at the Horton and Oxford Hospitals. It is a condition of the appointment that the post holder will be willing to work in any of the Trust’s locations as and when required, although travel will be remunerated.
