BMT Senior/Specialist Nurse
NHS AfC: Band 7
Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest NHS teaching trusts in the country. It provides a wide range of general and specialist clinical services and is a base for medical education, training and research.
The Trust comprises four hospitals - the John Radcliffe Hospital, Churchill Hospital and Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Headington and the Horton General Hospital in Banbury.
Our values, standards and behaviours define the quality of clinical care we offer and the professional relationships we make with our patients, colleagues and the wider community. We call this Delivering Compassionate Excellence and its focus is on our values of compassion, respect, learning, delivery, improvement and excellence. These values put patients at the heart of what we do and underpin the quality healthcare we would like for ourselves or a member of our family. Watch how we set out to deliver compassionate excellence via the OUH YouTube channel.
Many of our recruitment programmes use Value Based Interviewing to identify those who have the skills we seek, who share our values and who are able to deliver compassionate excellence from the outset. We know that this makes a significant difference to your job satisfaction and above all the outcomes and experience of our patients and their families.

B7 Senior Specialist Nurse or B6 Specialist Nurse for BMT
If you are passionate about Haematology and Bone Marrow Transplant nursing we invite you to apply for this role. You will have the opportunity to work in a highly experienced and skilled team caring for patients in the planning, treatment and post BMT phases. The role will offer the opportunity to work across the differing clinical areas that support the BMT pathways and contribute to the development of the service in collaboration with these areas.
The BMT Team is a team of Specialist Nurses who work with a wider MDT of Doctors, therapists and scientists to plan and co-ordinate transplant, support and counsel patients from pre to post treatment.
If applying for the B7 Senior Specialist Nurse role, alongside the clinical element of the role you will also have the opportunity to:
- manage a group of Specialist Nurses
- contribute to the development of new areas of the service (CAR-T) and write protocols and pathways
- participate and assist in emerging BMT research with IMPACT trials

- network with the wider MDT associated with BMT planning and treatment
As a B6 Specialist Nurse in the team you will also have exposure to many of the above elements and undertake service development with support.
