Job overview

Are you a specialty doctor seeking a new opportunity within the Adult Community Mental Health Team based in Witney Oxfordshire? 

Please note this is an internal vacancy and therefore only employees of Oxford Health are eligible to apply. 

As a Specialty Doctor you will join a multidisciplinary team providing high-quality mental health care to adults in the community.

You  will be based within the Witney mental health team, undertaking assessments and providing treatment to adults of working age and their families. You will work closely with other members of the team.

Main duties of the job

Key components of the role include:

·            Providing Psychiatric expertise to the MDT

·            Contributing to assessments, treatment planning and reviews

·            Liaising with other services e.g. Primary care where appropriate.

·           Supporting quality improvement and service developments

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • General medical qualification
Desirable criteria
  • Some or all parts of MRCPsych or equivalent

Training

Essential criteria
  • Shall have completed at least four years’ full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis) at least two of which will be in a specialty training programme in a relevant specialty or as a fixed term specialty trainee in a relevant specialty or shall have equivalent experience and competencies.
Desirable criteria
  • Attendance at MRCPsych course or equivalent Section 12 (2) approval: Mental Health Act, 1983

Clinical Experience

Essential criteria
  • Held appointments in psychiatry at SHO/CT or equivalent.Held appointments in psychiatry at SHO/CT or equivalent.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience at ST or SD level or equivalent

Skills and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • To exercise an intermediate level of clinical responsibility as delegated by the consultant in charge.
  • Ability to work through a collaborative multi-disciplinary framework.
  • Ability to contribute to effective team working. Capacity to prioritise workload.
  • Must have good skills in communication with patients, relatives, colleagues and staff of other organisations. Good spoken and written English.
  • Work collaboratively and effectively with a range of professionals.
  • Must have interest in and commitment to people with mental health problems, and their carers.
  • Interest in teaching
Desirable criteria
  • Experience teaching medical undergraduates.
