Job overview
We are delighted to be offering a permanent 1.0 position for an enthusiastic and motivated Speech and Language Therapist to join our small and friendly children’s team within Powys Teaching Health Board. You will have the opportunity to gain experience and work in a wide range of clinical areas including Early Years, Special schools and core mainstream schools.

Main duties of the job
You will work within the children’s Speech and Language Therapy team providing assessment, diagnosis and intervention/management of children. You will have the opportunity to work in a range of clinical areas supporting children who have a range of speech, language, eating and drinking, and communication needs. You will be supported by a team of Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapists across a range of specialisms.
The post holder will be well supported and be part of our band 5 peer supervision network, as well as being supported to complete RCSLT NQP competencies (if required). We have regular supervision sessions and have a strong ethos on supporting staff to develop alongside the trusts appraisal system.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post. Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Essential criteria
- Recognised qualification degree in Speech and Language Therapy
- Registered with Health and Care Professions Council
Experience
Essential criteria
- A range of experience in children's services
- Work experience/Student placements within health / social care settings
- Experience of a range of assessment and therapeutic techniques within clinical area
Desirable criteria
- Experience of supporting others
- Experience of working within and MDT or with other professionals
Aptitude & Abilities
Essential criteria
- Excellent communication skills – written and verbal
- Ability to cope in a busy environment through periods of interruption throughout the day
- Able to work as part of a team
- Ability to critically appraise performance
Desirable criteria
- Ability to speak Welsh
