Job overview
The post holder is required to provide financial support, advice and information to the Management Accounting team, and service/Directorate leads, including monitoring and analysis of financial information, and ensuring work is within Standing Financial Instructions, standing orders and accounting standards.
Work with the Finance Department and Directorate to establish systems for the routine collation, analysis, and interpretation of financial information.
This will include the provision of support and information to resolve
investigations of financial queries and discrepancies from varied sources
consisting of complex formulas/components. Liaising with Directorate
Management about identified financial variances relating to contractors,
localities, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure financial assurance
against appropriate regulations and contractual agreements.
Main duties of the job
Work as part of the Financial Services/ Management Accounting Finance Team in the preparation, processing and monitoring of all income and expenditure in relation to specific and named Delegated Budgets within the overall Health Board’s allocations, providing cover / support for other delegated Budget holders as may be required.
Support the monitoring of all Budgets, in line with standing order & accruals processes, standing financial instructions and any other Health Board or Statutory accounting standards, policies and guidelines.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Discuss and respond to / deal with queries from staff, customers or suppliers, any issues in respect of any aspect of Health Board / Delegated Budget income or expenditure, including areas of potential complexity and sensitivity. Resolution requires analysis of often complicated financial data and the interpretation and presentation of the results and recommendations for finance and non-finance staff.
Assist in the preparation of detailed service budgets (for pay, non-pay and
income), including the processing, reconciling and control of all such budgets within the Oracle Financial Systems and general ledger.
Preparation and processing of journals for inputting to the general ledger, in accordance with systems and audit controls and monthly timescales, ensuring all entries are made against the relevant and correct account codes to support monthly and annual financial performance management reporting.
