As Head of Service, you will lead and inspire our Speech and Language Therapy workforce, driving service transformation and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care. We are seeking an experienced, confident, and highly motivated leader with a strong track record of managing teams and transforming service delivery within the health and care system.
We are looking for a leader who can demonstrate:
· Extensive clinical experience within Speech and Language Therapy.
· Proven excellence in leadership, workforce development, and service transformation.
· A dynamic, forward-thinking approach to problem-solving and improvement.
· The ability to inspire, influence and engage teams across diverse care settings.
· Strong skills in collaboration, decision-making and strategic planning.
Main duties of the job
· Provide strategic and clinical leadership across primary care, community services, and hospital sites.
· Work collaboratively with Professional Heads, Service Groups and a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
· Support the integration and transformation of service delivery by interpreting and responding to national and local drivers.
· Champion innovation, digital solutions and modern approaches to care delivery.
· Act as a visible, engaging role model, demonstrating exceptional organisational and communication skills.
- Providing professional leadership and governance to all Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) services within the organisation.
- Operational management of the Adult and Paediatric SLT services across Powys.
- Development, provision and evaluation of a comprehensive clinical SLT service.
- Providing advice on a wide range of SLT matters to patients, service users, carers and clinicians.
- Lead on specific clinical audits, research and quality improvement projects.

Essential criteria
- Diploma/Degree – Speech and Language Therapy/Registered with HCPC
- Leadership or Management qualification/training
- Risk Management training
- • Documented evidence of CPD and commitment to personal and role development

- Membership of special interest group
- Completion of MSc

- Varied post graduate clinical experience
- Experience of a specialist clinical area
- Leadership experience and supervision of senior staff and teams
