Job overview
The post holder will be expected to demonstrate advanced clinical reasoning and specialist knowledge in neurological rehabilitation.
Experience and interest in areas such as stroke rehabilitation, spasticity management, movement disorders, gait rehabilitation, fatigue management, falls prevention, long-term neurological conditions, respiratory management of those with neurological conditions and FND are required for this role.
As a member of the CNRT clinical leadership team you will also play a key role in developing the CNRT service and neighbouring core services and those who work within, as part of an MDT approach.Main duties of the job
Powys CNRT specialises in therapeutic rehabilitation and management strategies for adults with progressive and non-progressive neurological disability and includes:
- Consultant Therapist
- Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist
- Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists and Dietitians
- Motor Neuro Care Coordinator
- Therapy support workers
- Administrative coordinator
CNRT operates Weekdays 8:30am - 4:30pm. This role is based at Newtown hospital covering a community caseload mainly across north Powys together with band 6 Physiotherapist colleague, for whom the band 7 has supervision responsibilities.
Main responsibilities include:
- Provide Highly Specialist Physiotherapy to patients with neurological disability.
- Ensure high standards of clinical care within the team, through performance monitoring, supervision and the training and development of others.
- To act as a source of expertise in the holistic management of neurological needs, providing strategies and education to patients, carers/families, professionals and other services involved as part of an interdisciplinary approach to patient care.
- Working collaboratively alongside nursing and our MDT colleagues both internally and externally to PTHB
- To activity engage in CPD and service development work.
- To develop others both clinically and professionally through education, supervision, training, audit and service improvement.

Qualifications and Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Degree/Diploma in Physiotherapy
- HCPC registration
- Advanced accredited training at master’s level or equivalent
Desirable criteria
- Membership of the CSP
- MSc within relevant specialty
- Post-graduate qualification up to post grad diploma level in relevant area
- Relevant leadership courses/qualifications
Experience
Essential criteria
- Significant postgraduate experience relevant to specialty
- Significant experience managing a complex caseload working within relevant specialty
- Experience in multiagency team working within specialist area
- Evidence of supporting clinical governance requirements, including codes of conduct
- Leadership of relevant networks/practice groups
- Experience in audit, research and service evaluation
- Experience in presenting to a range of audiences
